Best Larnaca Beachfront Family Hotels (2026)
7 family-friendly hotels with beach access in Larnaca . Handpicked for families who want the best.
You are looking at Larnaca because the airport is fifteen minutes from the beach and your kids need flat sand, not pebbles. This page covers the five Larnaca hotels where the beach is genuinely a 60-second walk or less from the pool deck, not a 'short stroll' that turns into a road crossing. Prices range from 181 EUR/night at Lordos Beach to 590 EUR/night at Sandy Beach. Two sit on the Finikoudes promenade in town (lively, restaurants 30 metres away), three are on the Dhekelia coast 9-15km east (quieter, bigger sand). If you also want all-inclusive board, Ayia Napa all-inclusive resorts sit 30km east. For pool-first families try Larnaca swimming pool hotels.
Larnaca is the most relaxed of the Cyprus resort towns. The airport is 8 minutes from Finikoudes by taxi (12 EUR fixed). The promenade has palm trees, a kid-friendly cycle path, and 40+ restaurants β Militzis for proper Cypriot meze with a kids' menu, Art Cafe 1900 for breakfast, Ocean Basket if your kids only eat fried fish. Skip the Larnaca Salt Lake in summer (dry and salty, no flamingos until November). The Hala Sultan Tekke mosque is 10 minutes by car and shaded for hot-day walks.

ποΈWhy Larnaca actually works for a beach holiday with kids
Larnaca splits into three beach zones, and your hotel choice locks you into one of them. Finikoudes is the central 1km city beach β restaurants, ice cream, mini-cruises, but the sand is narrow and gets crowded by 11am in August. Mackenzie Beach is 2km south, wider sand, the airport runway is 800m away (loud planes every 15 minutes in summer, kids actually love the spotting). Dhekelia coast stretches 12km east, calmer, longer beaches, and you need a car for restaurants.
The water temperature climbs steadily through the season. June: 24Β°C. July: 26Β°C. August-September: 27Β°C β bath water for small kids. October: 24Β°C, still swimmable. Public lifeguards are stationed at Finikoudes, Mackenzie, McDonalds Beach, and CTO Larnaca Beach from 15 May to 31 October, 10:30 to 17:30. Hotels with private beaches usually post a guard during pool hours but always confirm at check-in.
Sand quality is honest at all five picks. Finikoudes and Mackenzie are imported greyish-yellow sand, shallow drop, no pebbles in the shallows. The Dhekelia stretch (Lordos, Mercure Resort, Sandy Beach) has finer, lighter sand because of the bay shape β slightly better for sandcastles. None of the Larnaca beaches have rocky entries; you can walk in barefoot anywhere. The seafloor stays sandy out to chest-deep at all five hotels.
Parent's take
We chose Mercure Larnaca Beach Resort in July with two kids (6 and 9). The 30-second pool-to-beach walk meant we ran the morning pool routine, walked dripping to the sand for sandcastles before lunch, and came back to the pool after the 14:00 wind picked up. We never used a car except for the day-trip to Tekke Mosque. The airport pickup was actually 11 minutes.

Leonardo Boutique Hotel Larnaca is a 4-star with 70 rooms on the seafront promenade, a 90-second walk from the start of the Finikoudes bike path. The hotel rents adult hybrids and 20-inch kids bikes from reception, 10 euros and 6 euros a day.

Why families love Leonardo Boutique Hotel Larnaca
Reception staff actually know the salt lake route and will mark up a paper map with shade spots and water-fountain locations. Twin rooms accommodate three with a sofa bed. The rooftop pool is tiny and closes at 19:00, so plan late-afternoon dips earlier in the day.

Wonderful
666 reviews
Mercure Larnaca Finikoudes Beach is a 3-star with 89 rooms right on the seafront at the busiest point of the promenade. Bike rental is run by the partner shop next door, 8 euros for adult bikes, 5 euros for kids, helmets included.

Why families love Mercure Larnaca Finikoudes Beach
The location means you exit the lobby straight onto the Finikoudes square, where the kid-friendly ice cream and crepe stands cluster. Family rooms sleep four with a partition that gives parents the back half. Breakfast runs until 10:30 which works for late-rising teens.

Lordos Beach Hotel & Spa
Dhekelia Road
Wonderful
2,200 reviews
A long-established four-star a 12-minute drive east of town, with a generous main pool, a real kids' pool, on-site spa, and direct beach access onto Yanathes sand. Half-board and all-inclusive plans make it the easy pick for one-stop family weeks.

Why families love Lordos Beach Hotel & Spa
Old-school in a good way. The main pool is large enough that even at peak summer there's space, the kids' pool is shaded and big enough for actual swimming, and the beach is right there with sun beds for free. We took the half-board because the dining room is fine for kids (a salad bar that doesn't sit out all day, a real kids' menu, and Greek-Cypriot mains that taste like family cooking). The 12-minute drive into town is real, factor it for grocery runs.

Mercure Larnaca Beach Resort
Mackenzie
Wonderful
1,400 reviews
A four-star beachfront resort with two outdoor pools, a separate kids' splash zone, and assigned beachfront cabanas for guests. The pool sits between the rooms and the sand, so afternoons split easily between both.

Why families love Mercure Larnaca Beach Resort
Best pool-plus-beach combo we tested in Larnaca. Two outdoor pools means one is always less crowded, the kids' splash zone has water cannons that small kids love, and the beach is literally a 30-second walk from the pool deck. Loungers are assigned by room, not first-come. The family rooms are honest 30-square-meter doubles with a sofa bed and a balcony with sea view from the third floor up.

Golden Bay Beach Hotel
Pyla / Larnaca Bay
Excellent
1,450 reviews
Five-star beachfront resort north of the city proper, with a dedicated on-site kids' play area, kids' pool with small slide, and direct beach access. The grounds are big enough that families with toddlers can spread out without being on top of other guests.

Why families love Golden Bay Beach Hotel
Stayed five nights and the play area kept the kids happy long enough that we got actual reading time. Dedicated kids' pool was the unsung hero of the trip. The beach is right there, no crossing roads. It's a 15-minute drive to Finikoudes if you want town energy, but most days we didn't bother. Half-board worked because the buffet had familiar food the kids actually ate. Resort feels older than the price suggests but the family setup is solid.

Sandy Beach Hotel & Spa
Larnaca
Excellent
1,777 reviews
Sandy Beach Hotel & Spa is a 5-star 224-room resort on the Dhekelia coast 9km north of Larnaca centre, with its own beach and the largest hotel bike fleet on the island. Adult and child bikes free for guests, with rear child seats and helmets.

Why families love Sandy Beach Hotel & Spa
The free bikes are the differentiator. Sandy Beach has 50+ bikes including 12 kids, 8 child seats, and even three tagalongs for ages 5 to 8. Kids club runs daily 09:00 to 18:00, free for ages 4 to 12. The beach is private, sandy, and lifeguarded in summer.

Best Western Plus Larco Hotel
Larnaca seafront south
Excellent

Why families love Best Western Plus Larco Hotel
Larco is the no-surprises family pick. Two pools means we never queued for chairs, the shallow one was great for our 3-year-old, and the on-site play zone next to the bar terrace let us sit with a beer while the kids climbed. Promenade playground 200 metres south is the newest one in Larnaca and was always our after-dinner stop. Half-board worked for us. Rooms are dated but spacious.
π‘Tips for picking a Larnaca beachfront hotel
- 1Pick Finikoudes (Mercure Finikoudes, Leonardo Boutique) if you want to walk to dinner. The promenade restaurants are 50 metres from the lobby and kids can be barefoot through 21:00. Dhekelia hotels mean a 15-minute drive into town for anything outside the resort buffet.
- 2Ask for a high floor sea-view room at Mercure Larnaca Beach Resort. The third floor and up gets you over the pool noise and the cabanas, and you can spot kids on the sand from the balcony. The premium is 30 EUR a night and saves the 'where are they?' moments.
- 3Skip the second week of August unless you booked six months ahead. Finikoudes goes from busy to packed and the supermarket queues hit 20 minutes. May, late September and October are the sweet spots β water still 24Β°C, half the people, prices 35% lower.
- 4Bring water shoes for the kids if you stay Mackenzie. The airport flight path means lots of small jellyfish wash up after windy days from late July onward. Sandy Beach and Lordos on the Dhekelia stretch have far fewer because of the bay protection.
- 5Use the Larnaca bus number 425 (1.50 EUR) to get between Dhekelia hotels and town. Runs every 20 minutes 06:00 to 22:00, stops outside Sandy Beach, Lordos, and the Mercure Beach Resort. Cheaper than parking at the seafront, which is 8 EUR a day at the main car park.
