Pet-Friendly Family Hotels in Bordeaux
10 family-friendly hotels with pet friendly in Bordeaux . Handpicked for families who want the best.
Bordeaux works really well as a family city break with the dog, mostly because the historic centre is pedestrianised and the riverside parks along the Garonne let everyone, kids and pets included, run off energy without dodging traffic. Plenty of hotels here accept dogs but the ones below actually want them: pet bowls in the room on arrival, in some cases a dog basket, and front desk staff who can recommend a vet or the nearest grooming salon. We picked five with consistent recent reviews mentioning happy dogs and stressed-out kids who finally relaxed once the family pet arrived in the room.
Bordeaux is what happens when a wine region grows a UNESCO-listed city around itself: pale stone buildings, a vast pedestrianised centre, a fully tramway-served network, and the Place de la Bourse mirror water feature that every kid wants to splash through. It's flat, it's walkable, and outside of August lunch hour it's never too crowded for a stroller plus dog combo.

🐕Why Bordeaux is a Smart Family-Plus-Dog City Break
Most Bordeaux hotels charge a small pet fee, usually 10 to 25 euros per stay, but the five we picked include the dog without an extra line on the bill. Marty Hotel even leaves a welcome biscuit and a pet basket in the room. That sounds small but on a family arrival when you have suitcases, kids and a stressed dog, it makes the first hour calmer than you'd expect.
Eating out with kids and a dog is unusually easy in Bordeaux because most cafés along the Place du Parlement and around Saint-Pierre have terrace seating where dogs are normal. Bring a portable water bowl, sit outside, and the waiters will bring tap water for the dog without being asked. This is the kind of city that makes a long lunch with a six-year-old and a Labrador feel sane.
Parent's take
We took our dog to Bordeaux for the first time when our youngest was four. Honestly the hardest part was the train, not the hotel. Once we checked in, having the dog meant our kids spent more time outside and less time begging for tablets, which is a parenting win we'll take any day. The hotels below understand this dynamic.

Residhome Bordeaux

From

Why families love Residhome Bordeaux
Chartrons is the quietest central neighbourhood with a real local feel: independent bakeries, small parks, and a Saturday morning farmers market three blocks away. The kitchenettes mean you can sterilise bottles in the room and reheat the bottle of milk you actually need. The courtyard rooms face a planted internal yard with no street noise. The C tram line runs to the Cité du Vin in eight minutes.

Le Palais Gallien Hôtel & Spa
Bordeaux
Excellent
500 reviews
Le Palais Gallien Hôtel & Spa is a 5-star boutique with 28 rooms, a discreet billiard and games library, an indoor pool and a small spa. Rooms are 25 to 60 sq m and the family suite has interconnecting doors. The setting is quieter than the centre - five minutes by tram or 15 minutes on foot - and the building is a 19th-century hôtel particulier with garden.

Why families love Le Palais Gallien Hôtel & Spa
Three nights when grandparents came along. The billiard library was the 8-year-old's after-dinner ritual with grandad while the 5-year-old played with the chess set. The indoor pool is small (15m) but heated and quiet - we had it to ourselves twice. Family suite was the best of our list at 60 sq m, two bedrooms with one bathroom. Breakfast was à la carte and beautifully done. The trade-off is price (high) and central location (you walk or tram). Best fit for special occasion stays or grandparent trips.

Moxy Bordeaux
Bordeaux
Excellent
500 reviews
Moxy Bordeaux is a 3-star design hotel near Bordeaux Lac with a proper games room - table football, table tennis, board games and a games console. Rooms are compact 18 sq m doubles, but the games room and the lobby work as the family living room. Tram C reaches the old town in twelve minutes. The 24h reception is also the bar, which is unusual but useful when kids wake up early.

Two nights with a 5 and an 8-year-old. The kids spent two and a half hours in the games room on the rainy afternoon - the only reason we booked here, and it delivered. The room was tight for four but the bunk-bed family option (a 'Family Loft') fits two adults plus two kids. Breakfast is buffet style and works well for picky eaters. Worth knowing - the lobby gets loud after 19h with adults, so we ate elsewhere and used the games room early. Tram is a five-minute walk.

Pullman Bordeaux Lac
Bordeaux
Excellent
500 reviews
Pullman Bordeaux Lac is a 4-star at Bordeaux Lac with an adult-feeling games and bar lounge that includes a billiard table, plus an outdoor pool, fitness suite and family rooms. The hotel is connected to the convention centre - useful for events but quiet on family weekends. Tram C from the door reaches Place des Quinconces in 14 minutes.

Why families love Pullman Bordeaux Lac
Three nights with two kids. The billiard table was the 8-year-old's first time and a member of staff showed him how to chalk a cue. The pool was a real selling point - 25m, heated, kids loved it. Family room was 35 sq m with a sofa bed and proper cot space. Restaurant kids menu was decent if uninspired. The location at Bordeaux Lac means you absolutely need a car or planning to use the tram - but the trade-off is space, calm and proper amenities the central hotels can't match.

Why families love Marty Hotel Bordeaux - Tapestry Collection by Hilton
We booked Marty Hotel for two nights with our nine-year-old and Cocker Spaniel. The pet basket and bowl were already in the room when we arrived, which felt thoughtful. Family room had two real beds, no sofa-bed compromise. Walking distance to Jardin Public for morning dog runs and to the Place de la Bourse mirror water fountain for the afternoon kid show.

Hotel Konti Bordeaux by HappyCulture is a 4-star in Triangle d'Or, eight minutes walk from Place de la Bourse, with a small games room (foosball, board games, console) and a wellness area for adults. Rooms include 28 sq m family rooms with two double beds. The breakfast room turns into a kids snack station between 16h and 18h with hot chocolate and biscuits.

Why families love Hotel Konti Bordeaux by HappyCulture
Two nights with the kids in late October. The afternoon snack idea is brilliant - hot chocolate after a museum visit kept the 5-year-old going until dinner. The games room is small but the foosball table is full-size and was free both times we went. Family room had a real desk for kids' homework and enough hanging space for everyone. Triangle d'Or is the smartest part of central Bordeaux, so dinner options nearby are mostly adult-priced - we walked to Saint-Pierre for kid-friendly bistros.

Grand Hotel Francais
Saint-Pierre quartier, historic core
Excellent
1,320 reviews
Grand Hotel Francais is a friendly three-star tucked in the Saint-Pierre quartier with pet bowls in every dog-occupied room and no surcharge. The location is ideal for kids: 100 metres to the Place du Parlement, five minutes to the Pont de Pierre for evening dog walks across the river, and a tram stop right outside.
From
€227/night
Why families love Grand Hotel Francais
Affordable for the location and the family room felt bigger than expected. Pet bowls were waiting on arrival. The kids loved running across Pont de Pierre at sunset with our dog, which became a nightly ritual. Breakfast room is small so go early during high season. Reception staff happily warmed up dog food in their microwave when we asked.

Hotel Indigo Bordeaux Centre Chartrons by IHG
Chartrons, quiet residential district
Excellent
850 reviews
Hotel Indigo Chartrons sits in the quietest central Bordeaux neighbourhood with pet bowls provided in pet-occupied rooms and a leafy courtyard for morning dog stretches. Family rooms accommodate four with extra beds for kids, the spa is open to children mornings only, and the Chartrons antiques market every Sunday is a five-minute walk.

Why families love Hotel Indigo Bordeaux Centre Chartrons by IHG
Chartrons was the right call for us with a dog and two kids. The neighbourhood is quiet enough for early morning dog walks and only ten minutes by tram into the centre. Hotel courtyard is small but green and the kids invented a game of finding pet-friendly cafés on the Cours Portal. Reception printed out a vet list within minutes when we asked.

Hôtel de Sèze & Spa Bordeaux Centre
Triangle d'Or, central shopping district
Very Good
980 reviews
Hôtel de Sèze is a four-star with on-site spa just north of the Triangle d'Or shopping streets. Pet bowls are provided on request and the front desk keeps a list of vets, dog-friendly cafés and the nearest grooming salon. Family rooms accommodate up to two adults plus two children plus one dog.
From
€217/night
Why families love Hôtel de Sèze & Spa Bordeaux Centre
We had two nights here with our small dog and an eight-year-old who insisted on bringing his stuffed-animal collection. Reception didn't blink at either, which we appreciated. The hotel is 200 metres from the tram and the Triangle d'Or shopping is right outside, which kept the kid happy while one parent took the dog to Jardin Public twice a day.

Mama Shelter Bordeaux Centre
Bordeaux
Very Good
500 reviews
Mama Shelter Bordeaux Centre is a 3-star design hotel a five-minute walk from Place de la Bourse with a games room (foosball, table tennis, board games) and a rooftop bar with a view. Rooms are 14 to 25 sq m, compact but full of design touches kids notice. The location is the best in our list for walking the centre.

€283/night
Why families love Mama Shelter Bordeaux Centre
Two nights with the kids. The location was perfect - we walked to the Miroir d'Eau in eight minutes, the games room had real foosball with handles the 5-year-old could reach, and breakfast was very kid-friendly with pancakes and fruit. The downside - rooms are small. We took the family room (two double beds, 25 sq m) and it just fit. The rooftop bar is adults-only after 19h, so the games room downstairs is the family option after dinner. Tram stop right outside.
💡Tips for Booking a Pet-Friendly Bordeaux Hotel with Kids
- 1Confirm the size limit when you book. Most central Bordeaux hotels accept dogs under 10kg without question, but anything over 20kg needs a phone call to confirm. The five we picked all accept medium and large dogs as long as they are well-behaved at reception.
- 2Stay in Chartrons or Bastide if you want a quiet neighbourhood for evening dog walks. Chartrons has the Jardin Public ten minutes away and Bastide has the Parc aux Angéliques riverside path with off-leash zones marked from 8am to 10am.
- 3Bring proof of rabies vaccination just in case. French law requires it for all dogs in public spaces, and one in twenty hotels asks to see the EU pet passport at check-in, especially the chain hotels with strict booking conditions.
- 4Avoid August lunch hour at the Place de la Bourse mirror water feature with both kids and a dog. The crowd density gets uncomfortable for everyone. Mornings before 11am or evenings after 7pm are calmer and the temperature is kinder to dog paws on the stone.
- 5Pack a folding silicone water bowl. The few public dog water fountains in Bordeaux are mostly in the Jardin Public, and outside that area you'll need to ask café terraces for water. They almost always say yes but it's faster if you have your own bowl.
