⭐ Mallorca in June with children
The complete family travel guide
June is the sweet spot for a family holiday in Mallorca. Temperatures reach 28 °C, the sea hits 22 °C and the beaches have not yet been swamped by the July-August crowds. You get 11 hours of sunshine a day with just 2 days of rain across the whole month. The calas are accessible without fighting for towel space, and hotel prices sit 15 to 20 per cent lower than in peak summer.
The island is a natural playground for children. Mornings are for exploring crystal-clear coves where little ones paddle safely in shallow water. Afternoons bring the Soller heritage train, a wooden carriage from 1912 that crosses the Tramuntana mountains in an hour of tunnels, viaducts and jaw-dropping scenery. And on the hottest days, the Drach Caves offer an underground world at 21 °C, complete with a classical music concert on one of the largest subterranean lakes in Europe.
From the UK, Mallorca is one of the easiest family destinations to reach. Ryanair and easyJet fly direct from London, Manchester, Birmingham and Bristol in under 2 hours 30 minutes, with return fares from around £50 per person if you book early. June falls just before the school holidays start in late July, making it ideal for families with pre-school children or those willing to take a cheeky term-time break. If you are tied to half-term, the late May bank holiday week also works well. Public intercity buses (TIB) are free in 2026 with the intermodal card, which takes a lot of the sting out of getting around without a hire car.

June mornings in Mallorca start at a pleasant 20 °C and climb quickly to 28 °C by midday. Humidity sits at a manageable 64 per cent, well below the sticky levels of August. Rain is almost non-existent: when it does fall, it arrives as a brief late-afternoon thunderstorm that clears in minutes. Pack high-factor sun cream and hats for the children, as the sun is fierce between noon and 4 pm even with the sea breeze.
The best beaches and calas for families in June

June is the month to enjoy Mallorca's calas before the summer rush. Playa de Muro, on the north coast, is the go-to family beach: a long stretch of white sand where the water stays ankle-deep for tens of metres, perfect for toddlers. Sun loungers and parasols are available to hire, and several chiringuitos serve simple lunches.
On the east coast, Cala Mondrago sits within a nature reserve. Entry is free (car park 5 EUR, roughly £4.30), and the two sheltered coves offer calm, transparent water. The park trails are passable with an all-terrain buggy, and children love snorkelling with a basic mask and snorkel in the shallows.
Further south, Es Trenc is often compared to the Caribbean: fine sand, turquoise water and parasol pines for natural shade. In June you can still find space if you arrive before 10 am.
For families who prefer pools, the Alcudia area has the island's best concentration of hotels with water parks and kids clubs. Many operate all-inclusive packages that take the guesswork out of feeding small children.
Drach Caves, Soller train and Palma: the must-do excursions

The Drach Caves at Porto Cristo are Mallorca's top family excursion. You descend into a network of underground chambers to reach Lake Martel, one of the largest subterranean lakes in the world. The visit lasts about an hour and ends with a classical music concert played from boats on the lake, followed by a short boat crossing. In June, tours run hourly from 10 am to 5 pm. Tickets: 18 EUR/adult (roughly £15.50), 11 EUR child aged 2-12 (£9.50), free for under-2s. Note: pushchairs are not allowed inside.
The Soller train is another experience children love. This wooden-carriage railway from 1912 links Palma to Soller through the Tramuntana mountains: tunnels, viaducts and mountain scenery for a full hour. At Soller, you take the tram down to Port de Soller, a natural harbour with a sheltered beach that is ideal for families. Train single: 23 EUR (£20), return: 30 EUR (£26). Tram: 9 EUR (£7.70). Combined train + tram ticket: 35 EUR (£30) (book online at trendesoller.com up to 7 days ahead).
In Palma, the cathedral La Seu dominates the waterfront and its sheer scale fascinates children. The Palma Aquarium (30.50 EUR/adult, 19.50 EUR child aged 3-12, free for under-3s) is a solid wet-weather or too-hot-day option, with Mediterranean tanks and a 3D Aquadome cinema.
Where to stay: the best areas for families in June
Alcudia and Playa de Muro are the top pick for families with young children. The beach is vast, the water stays shallow and the area has the island's highest concentration of hotels with water parks and kids clubs. It is also the best jumping-off point for the north (Cap de Formentor, S'Albufera nature reserve). In June the resort strip is lively without being rammed.
Port de Pollensa has a quieter, more local feel. The pedestrianised seafront is pushchair-friendly, the beach is sheltered from wind, and the restaurants along the promenade offer children's menus. A good choice for families who want to avoid the big hotel complexes.
Cala Millor, on the east coast, strikes a balance between family beach and proximity to the Drach Caves (30 minutes by car). Hotels here tend to be cheaper than in Alcudia, and the long promenade is perfect for evening strolls.
Palma suits families who want culture and beach in one trip. The old town is walkable, the aquarium is 15 minutes away by bus, and the bay beaches (Can Pastilla, Playa de Palma) are easy to reach. In June the terraces in the old quarter are pleasant in the evening without the crushing heat of high summer.
