Halkidiki Family Hotels with Game Rooms

5 family-friendly hotels with game room in Halkidiki . Handpicked for families who want the best.

Halkidiki summers run long and hot, and after five hours on the beach the kids will be done with sand by 4pm. The smarter family resorts on Kassandra and Sithonia know this and build proper game rooms: ping pong tables under shade, billiards in the bar lounge, mini-golf greens between the buildings, and a few foosball or arcade machines tucked into the kids club. Not every Halkidiki hotel bothers, but the ones that do save your evenings. We picked five with real game facilities that actually work for tweens and teens, not just toddlers.

Halkidiki is the Greek mainland's summer playground: three peninsulas of pine forest sliding down to blue-flag beaches, with Kassandra in the west built for resort tourism and Sithonia in the middle quieter and rougher around the edges. Most family hotels here run on full or half board because the nearest restaurant is rarely walking distance, which is exactly why the on-site entertainment matters.

Why Halkidiki Family Resorts Build Game Rooms

The classic Halkidiki holiday rhythm runs beach all morning, lunch at the resort, swim in the pool until 5pm, dinner at 8pm. That leaves an awkward two-hour gap when the older kids are restless and you want a coffee in peace. A hotel with a game room solves it: ping pong tournaments between siblings, billiards lessons from dad, mini-golf with the cousins.

Halkidiki weather is reliably hot from mid-June through September, but you do get the occasional thundery afternoon, especially in early June or late September. When that happens the indoor pool and the game room become the only options. Resorts that invested in both ride out a rainy afternoon without complaint; the ones that didn't watch families pile into the lobby.

Parent's take

We learned the hard way that 'kids facilities' on Booking.com can mean a single hopscotch grid by the lifeguard chair. The five hotels below have actual rooms with actual equipment, and we checked recent reviews to confirm the tables aren't broken or locked. If your kids are over eight you need this, full stop.

Why families love Pomegranate Wellness Spa Hotel

We came for three nights with two kids aged nine and twelve and ended up extending. The game room runs until 11pm and our older kid played billiards every evening with the staff after their kids club shift ended, which was lovely. Mini-golf is six holes, more than enough. Half-board buffet has a separate kids section that opens 30 minutes earlier so the little ones eat first.

Why families love Halkidiki Palace

Mid-range price, generous facilities. The kids spent every afternoon between the slide pool and the ping pong tables, which were never busy enough to wait. Mini-golf is small but well-kept. Buffet is solid Greek-Mediterranean with a kids corner. The walk to Polykhrono village is 15 minutes and worth it for evening gelato.

Why families love Hilltop

We booked Hilltop for the value and got more than expected. Ping pong tables are in the shade so even at 35 degrees you can play. The putting green is tiny but it kept our six-year-old happy for half an hour with a borrowed putter. Hanioti village is the highlight of staying here, with proper bakeries and a real Saturday market.

Why families love Istion Club & Spa

We chose Istion for the bungalow layout, which was the right call with two kids who go to bed at different times. Game facilities are good rather than great: billiards table is busy in the evenings so book a slot at reception, ping pong is fine. The kids club arcade is small but free. Beach is the real selling point and the pool deck is huge.

Why families love Asteris Village

We stayed a week with three kids and a baby. The kitchenette saved us serious money on lunches and the ping pong table was busy every afternoon. Playground is basic but right next to the pool so you can watch one kid play while another swims. Gerakini beach is right there, no walking required, which matters when you're carrying baby gear.

πŸ’‘Tips for Booking a Halkidiki Hotel with a Game Room

  • 1Book a hotel on Kassandra (western finger) if you want game rooms plus easy day trips to Thessaloniki, around 90 minutes by car. Sithonia is wilder and quieter but the drive into town is closer to two hours each way.
  • 2Ask the hotel directly whether the game room is open during siesta hours. Many Halkidiki resorts close the pool bar 2pm to 5pm and the game room closes with it, leaving nowhere to hide from the heat between meals.
  • 3Bring your own ping pong balls and bats if you can. Resort balls disappear within the first week of high season and replacements are not always offered until the following morning, especially in August.
  • 4Check whether the mini-golf course is real or a single putt-green near the kids club. A proper nine-hole course will keep two kids busy for an hour. A putting strip lasts about ten minutes before they're back asking for ice cream.
  • 5If your kids are teens, ask whether there is a billiards table in the adult bar area and whether under-eighteens are allowed during the day. Some hotels restrict access after 9pm when the bar gets busy.
